A new book on VAT has been released , written by Kanhayalal Sharma, called "EASY GUIDE TO ORISSA VAT." It is a book in simple language written for the laymen as well as the experts, avoiding legal jargon. MODEL OF ROURKELA STEEL PLANT CREATED BY HIRALAL SHARMA ENTIRELY ON WOOD

These a few photographs of Mr. Hiralal Sharma's creation i.e., the model of the Rourkela Steel Plant made entirely of wood which is unique ans still acclaimed as a Masterpiece.

SHARMA'S OF CUTTACK - ORISSA

This blog of Sharmas is of the Hiralal Sharma and Sushila Sharma's family. Hiralal Sharma passed away on 16th December, 1989. Those who are not aware or acquainted with Hiralal [ I refrain from calling him deceased, since it is too painful for the near and dear ones to do so] he was a very gifted artiste, designer and woodcarftsman. He was very hardworking, sincere and cordial to everyone and was famous all over the state of Orissa as Sharmaji. He was a multi-faceted genius and could create works of art as well as crafts in many spheres like wood, iron, steel, aluminium, etc. He was felicitated by the then President of India, in 1961 and 1962 , Dr. Radhakrisnan and the Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. He was selected to design the Tableaux for the State of Orissa on both the abovementioned years , and his creation was unique in that it was completely of wood. On one of the years he represented the newly constructed Hinrakud Dam Project, which was highly appreciated and acclaimed. His model in complete wood of the Rourkela Steel Plant is unique and a testimony to his craftsmanship, which still survives him. To this day all the visitors to see his magnum opus are dumbstruck at Sharmaji's exceptional and rare talent. He expired suffering form Asthma and Oral Cancer.
His sons are Kanhayalal Sharma, Pannalal Sharma and Pradeep Sharma. Kanhayalal has secured his B.Com Degree from Ravenshaw College of Cuttack, and then his Master's Degree in Business Management from the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. Then he secured his Degree in law from the Mdhusudan Law College, Cuttack and isn now an established lawyer practicing in Taxation and Constitutional matters in the Orissa High Court. He is also an accomplished musician having completed his graduation[Sangeet Visharad] in Hawaiin [Steel] Guitar from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharava Mahavidyalaya Mandal of Bombay in Hindustani Classical Music and his Madhyama [Intermediate] in Vocal Music also in Hindustani. He is an approved Music Artiste of All India Radio, Cuttack and Doordarshan. He has undertaken Doctoral Research [Ph. D. ] under the Utkal University in Business Adminstration and after submission of the Doctoral Thesis, his Ph.D. Degree is awaited.
His younger brothers Pannalal and Pradeep Sharma [fondly called as China] are both Commerce Graduates from Ravenshaw College. Pradeep with his special aptitude and inclination for Electronics has a Diploma in Electronics. Both are presenly into business. Pannalal into retail and Pradeep into the used automobiles buisness.
Kanhayalal Sharma is married to Pinky Sharma and they have a daughter Hansavahini also called Gudia.
